about winnie
winnie is known for making unique and classic images of dogs. born and raised in northern illinois, she grew up in a house surrounded by animals – dogs, cats, kittens, birds, a turtle, fish, and even a small lizard. her childhood dog lucky was the cutest little mutt, a stray who her family adopted after he arrived at their doorstop.

winnie eventually left the midwest and attended boston university, where she ended up spending all her spare time in the photo lab of the journalism department. it was there that she discovered that something as fun as photography could actually be a career. from that point, she learned all she could about photography by apprenticing some of boston and new york’s finest photographers, working for clients like vogue, vanity fair, martha stewart, real simple, o (the oprah magazine), ralph lauren, neiman marcus, j.crew, and lucky magazine.

today she lives in new york city with her corgi tartine and is lucky enough to combine her love for animals with her photography skills. winnie spends her time photographing dogs and humans (www.winniewow.com). she has been photographing formal dog portraits since 2005. she wants to give dogs the same care and attention that we often give models, presidents, celebrities, and important figures throughout history. she treats each fine art dog portrait as if it were a traditional painting – carefully selecting each backdrop, each setting, so that it matches and highlights each dog’s personality. because dogs are such important parts of our families, she wants to capture them in a timeless and beautiful way. if you love your dog as much as winnie loves tartine, treat yourself with a dog portrait by winnie today.

her dog portraits have been published or featured in the bark magazine, time out new york, apartment therapy, modcloth, abc news, pdn’s emerging photographer magazine, and pdn's photo annual 2012. her dog portraits were recently showing in the fence at photoville 2012, an outdoor art exhibit in brooklyn bridge park in nyc.
