why dog portraits?
just like you, i love my dog. if you can't guess, the corgi in the photo above (tartine) is the dog in my life, and just like you, i can't imagine anything better than filling our home with portraits of her. yes, tartine has her own blog and instagram, amongst many other things that she is unaware of. she brings great joy to the world and everyone around her, and i love her for that. i'm incredibly happy to be able to take dog portraits for all of you dog lovers out there, so that you too can have beautiful photos of the pooch or pooches in your life.
i'm a new york city-based animal photographer. i spent my college years studying advertising and visual arts at boston university, and when i graduated i realized i just wanted to do photography all of the time instead. i learned as much as i could by apprenticing some of boston and new york's finest fashion, portrait, and advertising photographers, working with clients like vogue, vanity fair, martha stewart, ralph lauren, and j.crew.
today i'm a full time freelance photographer, and i've had the great fortune to work with advertising and editorial clients, non profit organizations & charities, and personal commissions. i also take portraits of humans. in my free time i like to take portraits for adopt NY, a great organization that represents all no-kill rescue groups and has several events each year to help find homes for all of the dogs & cats in NY. my dog portraits were recently featured at the fence at photoville, an outdoor exhibition in brooklyn bridge park, nyc. and i just published my first dog portrait book, canine chronicles.
